Within the vast spectrum of the internet, within the billions of pages of cyber information, behind the graphics, the words, the link... there is a human face. Technology has indeed exploded within the last decade, leading to changes that have impacted the way we think, talk and interact with one another. However, no amount of scientific gizmos and technological miracles will be able to replace the reason why these marvels continue to exist; us. The internet, as inpersonal as it may appear cosmetically, has been built upon the foundations of vast swarms of information being made available by, well, everyone. We have all, in some way or another, contributed to the eternal expansion of this colossal hub of information. If you are reading this blog, chances are you have a social network account of some sort. We all take great pride in maintaining and sustaining an active social networking life, where we use our petty profiles as a means of advocating to others our popularity, and promoting our selected memories with distant friends. However, the notion that the individualistic endevor you have undertaken with the intent to personalise your profile has, in a sense, conclusively become a minutely insignificant fraction of the wider picture. The millions upon millions of layers of personal information that we hold so dear to ourselves, are in fact lost within the endless nature of cyber space.
Now, this appears to be a somewhat cynical, if not a tragically pessimistic way of viewing the role we play within the internet. But these were the thoughts that were running through my mind when considering the possibility of creating my own blog. What led me to finally click my way through the tediously drawn out steps to get to this point, starting my own blog, was the sentiment that this blog would in essence serve as a place where I could express what my thoughts, opinions and ideas regarding, as ambiguously indecisive as this sounds, anything. Whether what I write will reach out and interest people, I cannot say. However, the prospect of writing within the non-regulated freedom of the internet is prodigiously exciting for me. Why blog? Well, why not?
I happened across this and decided commenting couldn't hurt. You're writing is really intriguing. I just read their eyes were watching god. I think if you haven't read it, you might would enjoy it.
